Science Sandbox, our catalytic grantmaking initiative, supports boundary-pushing, interdisciplinary projects that illuminate how science is part of culture. We identify people and organizations who seek to inspire and partner with them to support their vision. Through our partnerships, we strive to bring to light the role scientific inquiry can play in people’s day-to-day lives while centering communities and voices that have been historically underserved.
We reimagine what science can look like through innovative engagement practices. We seek out programs and individuals who don’t see walls between science and the rest of culture, integrating art, music, performance and more. We support people who aren’t afraid to push boundaries and take their communities to incredible and sometimes unexpected places. Whether through informal education initiatives, live events or experimental media, we believe there’s no limit to the number of ways people can experience science.
