Michael Chapman, Ph.D.
New York UniversityMichael Chapman is going to be a postdoctoral researcher for the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University under the mentorship of Professors Subhash Khot and Oded Regev. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in pure mathematics at the Hebrew University under the supervision of Professors Alex Lubotzky and Nati Linial.
Chapman’s research lies in the confluence of several areas of pure mathematics — mainly group theory, combinatorics and probability — with theoretical computer science. In his Ph.D., he studied variants of homomorphism testing, random walks on expander graphs and combinatorial constructions of high dimensional expanders. These days, Chapman is working on group hardness of approximation using tools from complexity theory and quantum information theory.
