Krithika Venkataraman, Ph.D.
Krithika Venkataraman is a scientist on the Neuroscience Collaborations team and is the scientific lead for the Simons Collaboration on Plasticity and the Aging Brain (SCPAB). She joined the Simons Foundation in 2022 and until summer 2023, oversaw the Simons Collaboration on the Global Brain (SCGB). She is passionate about advancing scientific knowledge by facilitating diverse, cross-disciplinary collaborations, improving the clarity of scientific communication and building inclusive scaffolds to strengthen scientific communities. In 2022, Venkataraman was appointed the Rita Allen Foundation’s inaugural Civic Science Associate. As a Civic Science Associate, she worked with RockEDU Science Outreach at The Rockefeller University to design synchronous and asynchronous infrastructure for laboratories to provide tailored, practical support to its members throughout their careers. Venkataraman holds a Ph.D. from Rockefeller where she completed her dissertation on the reproductive strategies of mosquitoes through the lens of behavior and genetics. While at Rockefeller, she was a recipient of the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Ph.D. Fellowship, the David Rockefeller Fellowship for Graduate Studies and the Women & Science Graduate Fellowship. She previously received a B.A. magna cum laude with highest honors in biochemistry and a minor in neuroscience from Smith College. She remains an active member of her alma mater’s alumnae community, conducting interviews annually for prospective students in the greater New York City area.
