Karl Pierce, Ph.D.

Flatiron Research Fellow, CCQ, Flatiron Institute

Karl Pierce joined the Center for Computational Quantum Physics (CCQ) in October 2023 as a Flatiron Research Fellow, Software. Pierce received his Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry from Virginia Tech and a B.S. from Rice University. His work focuses on improving the utility and performance of modeling and tensor-algebra software across a multitude of platforms, languages and computing architectures. He is interested in heterogeneous and high-performance computing, distributed algorithms, applied mathematics, and linear and higher-order tensor algebra.
