James Smith worked at the Flatiron Institute as a research associate in 2019 before joining the Center for Computational Quantum Physics as a Flatiron Research Fellow from 2020 to 2022. His research focused on numerical methods for quantum chemistry used to study strong electron correlation found in bond-breaking and metallic systems. Currently, Smith is a member of the technical staff at the Lucata Corporation, where he works on linear algebra libraries used for sparse graph problems on Lucata’s custom architecture.
