Alexandru Georgescu joined the Simons Foundation in 2017 as a Flatiron research fellow at the Center for Computational Quantum Physics. His main interests lie in elucidating the underlying quantum physics in correlated complex oxides and their heterostructures as well as other quantum materials using a variety of electronic structure and many-body methods (Density Functional Theory, Dynamical Field Theory, Slave-Boson techniques and others). He received his Ph.D. in 2017 from Yale University, and he earned his bachelor’s degree at Columbia University, where he was an I.I. Rabi scholar. He is also committed to community service, having volunteered in scientific education with a focus on student mentoring, public lectures and curriculum development. His work in this area was recognized with the D. Allan Bromley fellowship during his time at Yale.

The public repository for the slave-boson code he developed can be found here: https://bitbucket.org/yalebosscode/boss/wiki/Home
