2024 Simons Postdoctoral Fellowships in Marine Microbial Ecology Announced
The Simons Foundation and Simons Foundation International have named five scientists as 2024 Simons Fellows in Marine Microbial Ecology. The fellowship program supports promising postdoctoral scientists who intend to pursue a career in basic research on fundamental problems in marine microbial ecology, with an emphasis on understanding the role of microorganisms in shaping ocean processes and vice versa. The new fellows are:
Robert Lampe
Project: Quantifying and modeling micronutrient utilization in marine eukaryotic phytoplankton
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, laboratory of Mak Saito
Jiarui Liu
Project: Leveraging naturally occurring 15N15N to quantify in-situ microbial N2 production in oceanic waters
University of California, Santa Barbara, laboratory of David Valentine
Jacob Robertson
Project: Genetics and experimental co-evolution of Alteromonas-phage interactions
University of California, San Diego, laboratory of Justin Meyer
Keila Stark
Project: Disentangling effects of thermal variability on the evolution of phytoplankton thermal response curves
Michigan State University, laboratory of Elena Litchman
Bethany Stevens
Project: Endless summer: bloom senescence and the fate of primary production by small phytoplankton
University of California, Santa Barbara, laboratory of Holly Moeller
These grants are funded by the Simons Foundation and Simons Foundation International and administered by the Simons Foundation.
