Ashvin Vishwanath is a professor of physics at Harvard University. His work uses quantum mechanics to explore properties of matter such as superconductivity and magnetism. He shared the 2016 Europhysics Prize for the discovery and analysis of a new state of matter. He was named a Simons Investigator in Physics in 2015 and a Simons Fellow in Theoretical Physics in 2012.
