Mattia Rigotti Thompson is a mentor in the 2024 SURFiN program. He is a graduate student in Chethan Pandarinath’s lab at Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Rigotti Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His research focuses on characterizing how intended movements are encoded by neural activity within the motor cortex, with the goal of improving practical use of brain-computer interfaces. Rigotti Thompson is the recipient of a J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship.
