Brian Busemeyer, Ph.D.
Millennium ManagementFlatiron Research Fellow, CCQ (2019-2022), Flatiron Institute
Brian Busemeyer joined the Center for Computational Quantum Physics (CCQ) in September of 2019. Before that, he was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. There, he studied correlated electron systems like magnetic and superconducting materials using first-principles methods, including quantum Monte Carlo. More recently, he has been applying and improving methods for downfolding: a process of developing coarse-grained quantum models from realistic quantum simulations. He is interested in leveraging systematic downfolding techniques to better understand correlated electron systems and the extent to which different simplified models may describe them.
