Alex Wein is a Courant Instructor in the department of mathematics at NYU’s Courant Institute. He received his Ph.D from MIT under the supervision of Ankur Moitra. His research interests include: (i) statistical and computational limits of inference problems arising in data science, machine learning, and optimization, (ii) connections between Bayesian inference and statistical physics, and (iii) problems involving group actions (e.g. cryo-EM image processing), including connections to representation theory and invariant theory.
