Title: The Demographics of Stars and Exoplanets in the Era of TESS and Gaia
Abstract: The study of stars and planets in our galaxy has been revolutionized over the past decades by a flood of high-precision data from ground-based spectroscopic surveys and space telescopes such as Kepler/K2, TESS and Gaia. In this talk I will discuss recent discoveries enabled by these datasets in three interconnected science areas: the study of stellar structure and evolution using asteroseismology, the large-scale determination of ages for galactic stellar populations, and the inference of exoplanet compositions and demographics using transit and radial velocity surveys. I will also discuss future prospects for stellar-exoplanet synergies using next-generation ground and space-based facilities such as the Keck Planet Finder and the Roman Space Telescope.
